Usually at the time of marriage, when matching the horoscopes of bride and groom, there is a special consideration about "Mangal Dosh" - what it is and why is it given special thought. Mars is an evil planet. When it is placed in the 1st house, 4th house, 7th, 8th or 12th house in your birth chart, it creates a malefic effect on that house which is called "Mangal Dosh" and the person under this influence is called "Manglik". The effect of Mars in houses 1, 4, 7, 8 and 12 is considered while analyzing how powerful the Mangal effect is. The 1st house represents the body, the 4th house represents comfort, the 7th house represents marital happiness (husband-wife relations), and the 8th house represents death. The various troubles that come in the life of a person are also considered from this house. The 12th house represents expenses and losses. Generally, after 28 years, the Mangal Dosh of a native gets completely eliminated. Apart from this, Mangal Dosh is eliminated in the following situations:

1. If Mars in Aries is in the 1st house, Mars in Scorpio in the 4th house, Mars in Capricorn in the 7th house, Mars in Cancer in the 8th house, or Mars in Sagittarius in the 12th house, then the Mangal Dosh becomes negligible.

2. When matching the horoscopes of bride and groom, if Saturn is placed in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house, then the Mangal Dosh is eliminated.

3. If the Moon and Venus conjunction is in the 2nd house of the horoscope, Moon and Mars conjunction in the Kendra, or Jupiter aspects Mars fully, then Mangal Dosh gets eliminated.

4. If Mars of Aries or Scorpio is in the 4th house, Mars of Cancer or Capricorn in the 7th house, Mars of Pisces in the 8th house, and Mars of Aries or Cancer in the 12th house.

5. If strong Jupiter and Venus are in the sign or 8th house, and the 7th lord becomes strong and is placed in Kendra or Trikona.

6. If one of the two (bride or groom) has Mangal Yoga in their horoscope and the other has a malefic planet in the Mangal yoga causing house, then the Mangal Dosh becomes zero.

According to the original text of Lal Kitaab, Mars is inauspicious in the 4th and 8th house, and provides auspicious results in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th houses. If Mars is sitting alone in any house, then the native becomes like a prisoner in a zoo.

For a native with Mangal Dosh in Aries ascendant, if Mars is Manglik, then the following remedies can be followed to live a happy life:

1. Keep a red handkerchief with you.

2. Prepare sweet bread in a tandoor and feed it to a dog.

3. Get an iron nail fitted in a silver bracelet and wear it.

4. Do not live in a house with a door facing the south direction.

5. Get a red coral of five and a half carats set in a copper or gold ring and wear it. Artificial coral will be harmful.

6. Give sweets to an unmarried girl. Also give sweets to your sister.
